In direct answer to your question, your question itself suggests an answer. First, if so many cultures, religions, mythologies, etc, have a similar character, then isn't it plausable that he does exist. Maybe his name isn't "Satan", but there is an evil intellegence in the universe.Many people have suggested that Satan is not real and that we have conjured him up in order to control people's behavior. I feel that he attempts to influence this world and create a domaine in the physical world.
