Do colleges prefer SAT over ACT?

Mark Hovanes: It really depends on the school. Most Ivy leagues and schools on the coasts prefer the SAT, midwestern schools mostly look at the ACT. In fact, unless they're applying for schools out of state, most students in the midwest only take the ACT.
