Garry Ohmen: I dont think it actually has a genre entitled to it, though people could say a poem sounds Gothic or Emo. It probably falls under some category that is similar to what Goths or Emo's write about. It may one day have its own genre, but not today... legally or professionally atleast.

Virgil Menefee: Gothic poems are a contemporary version of Romantic poems. Romantic Poets were a common figure of fun in early twentieth century popular culture, and they actually existed even then. While the Romantic movement was early 19th century, I strongly recommend at least taking a look at Clark Ashton Smith, who I've linked to a fan site for in sources. Most of the goth poets I know about have the same concerns. Some are fans of his, some never heard of him, some are ! even a LOT better than he was.
