Lucien Hellerman: you have to be 18 !i live in canada :)nova scotia, come here, it's beautiful !
Sherrill Botting: In Quebec, where I live, it is legal for someone of any age to sign contracts to satisfy their essential needs, therefore you can rent at any age. Most 17-year-olds indeed rent apartments or rooms because we finish high school at 17.However, I could not tell for other provinces, but I don't think the law prohibits anyone under 18 from renting an apartment, although some landlords might refuse you if you're under 18 or 19 (British Columbia)....Show more
Anton Waln: To sign a lease you have to be 18. If you are 16, or have no credit rating, then you would need someone to cosign a lease with you.Thee are plenty ofplaces you can rent on a monthly basis too. Thsoe don't need a lease, so any one can rent. Usually most people won't rent to minors though, no matter how much money you give up front.A good spot to start searching i kijjiji or craigslist. Us! ually you can find cheaper apartments listed there. If you have a friend in town, they can go ahead and check out thepalce for you before you arrive. Otherwise, expect to stay at a motel for a week or so while you shop for a place. Even ifyou line up a few partments ahead of time, some are really sketchy... so don't give them any money until you have seen the place with your own eyes!Hope that helps... and bon voyage!...Show more
Moises Rupinski: As a visitor from another country (I assume), you cannot stay in Canada for more than six months. Also, like many have stated, most provinces require you to be of a certain legal age, usually 18, in order to be able to sign contracts, such as a lease agreement. Plus, I think most landlords will be iffy about renting to someone who is just here visiting, and not staying long term, as most lease periods are 12 months.
Maria Bengston: I rented a place at 16 I had no choice.Your parents only legally have to support you till ! your 16.Once you are 16 your parents can legally through you o! ut,That`s what happened to me.You have to be 18 to sign a lease. So as long as you can find a place that will rent to you without a lease you will be fine.
Roosevelt Pendill: i believe its 18 in ontario, my sister just got an apartment and shes 18. some places require you to have a full time job to rent out the apartments, some don't. just watch the conditions and read everything
Son Ahlers: In Quebec I know people who have rented their own place when they were 16. I don't know about the rest of Canada (I think it's older) but here the legal age at which you can sign a contract/legal agreement is 14.But, as someone else pointed out, they may refuse you if you don't have a job, credit rating, co-signer, or some way of ensuring that you'll pay up....Show more
